Lowlights From the Sunday Morning Shows

In 2007 when he was FL House Speaker, Mark Rubio supported gun sale background checks, but today he says they aren’t effective because they can’t be enforced. So what was he thinking in 2007? Was he thinking?

Whichever, his statement isn’t true anyway, according to the FBI. As one of many Federal agencies now linked together to identify specific issues, the agency explained this year that gun checks mandated by the Brady Act, through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), conducted more than 150 million checks since launched in 1998, leading to nearly one million federal denials BEFORE THE GUNS WERE SOLD.

So are you still going to believe everything Rubio says?

He’s also outraged about JZ and Beyonce’s trip to Cuba. A representative of the party for Less Government Involvement in our lives suggests laws that forbid travel to communist countries?

“The travel policies need to be tightened because they are being abused,” Rubio, of Cuban descent, said. “These are tourist trips, and they are – what they’re doing is providing hard currency and funding so that a tyrannical regime can maintain its grip on the island of Cuba, and I think that’s wrong.”

I can’t recall if it is Rubio who also raged about illegal immigrants responsible for lowering wages and stealing jobs from U.S. workers. He wasn’t the only one, though. And, guess what? Yep, we checked those dang facts, and it’s not true. A new study by economist Heidi Shierholz of the Economic Policy Institute — a liberal think tank funded in part by U.S. labor unions says that: “In the ongoing debate on immigration, there is broad agreement among academic economists that it has a small but positive impact on the wages of native-born workers overall: although new immigrant workers add to the labor supply, they also consume goods and services, which creates more jobs

During the immigration reform rant on ABC’s “This Week,”, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said, “if we pass something that allows those here illegally to achieve citizenship, it means you’re a chump for having stayed in your own country and followed the rules.”

You just can’t make this stuff up.

When do we get more outraged? Hold these high-ranking Republicans responsible for their lack of integrity?Or are they so irrelevant none but their narcissistic colleagues care?

Wait–the lies they spew are consequential long as anyone puts cameras and microphones in front of them for anything other than utter amusement. We must ratchet up the effort to hold these knuckleheads to the truth over the days and weeks ahead. We have critical legislation on the table. This Congress is #1 for doing the least. Let’s start calling them out. As role models to the generation behind us, if not for ourselves.
